Mikaela Olmsted

Analyst

Mikaela Olmsted, from Sanford, North Carolina, is a Graduate student at High Point University studying Communication and Business Leadership. She graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is involved in the Clarinet Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Community Orchestra, and is Drum Major for the Marching Band. During her four years at HPU, she has played in the Pit Orchestra, where she played multiple instruments, led rehearsals and sound checks, and also played solo tenor saxophone in HPU’s performance of “Cabaret”. In October of 2019, Mikaela had the chance of performing with the Army Field Band on their tour through High Point, North Carolina. Mikaela won HPU’s 2019-2020 Concerto Competition.


In between rehearsals and studying, Mikaela was a Presidential Scholar, and was honored to receive a School of Business Scholarship as well as Music Department Scholarship. She holds the position of Instrumental Music Librarian and ensures that any instrumental ensemble has copies of music and is currently in the process of creating a database to organize and track music for the Wind Ensemble and Orchestral Library. Her administrative skills don’t stop there, she has designed and lead Leadership workshops for the Marching Band and has written handbooks for the different leadership positions within the band.


Upon graduating from HPU, Mikaela will be pursuing a career in music as well as working towards receiving her Doctorate in Business Administration. Mikaela will be making her home in Greensboro with her cat, Hunter.
